The Problem with IT Management
Becoming an IT manager is like being chosen for the football team because you were once good at swimming. When an organization is looking for a new IT manager, it will often look to its team of IT professionals who have made a name for themselves as technical experts. But, being a technical expert is not the same as being a good manager. And specifically, IT management is not the same as business management. You will need to know how to create an IT strategy, manage a portfolio of projects and so on. The Excellent IT management course will help you to make the transition.
The Problem with IT Leadership
At a certain point, IT managers want to move up from just doing what they are told, to taking a more pro-active role in the future of the business. You find yourself running a larger team, no longer able to get involved with the detail, and wanting to getting involved with higher level decisions. You are looking to forge strong relationships with the key decision makers, lead innovation and better align IT to the business. The Excellent IT Leadership course gives you valuable insights on how to build your IT leadership skills and prepare you for a more senior role in both the day-to-day operations as well as the future of your organization.

You can take our IT management or IT Leadership courses as a residential course in the UK, online or in-house.Â
Residential courses in the UK
Twice a year we run our flagship IT Management and IT Leadership courses at the magnificent Greenlands venue in Henley-on-Thames. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, this is one of the countries leading learning venues.
The course is run over five days, and most delegates choose to stay on-site at the Greenlands Hotel. The day is spent on short presentations, break-outs and case-studies. The presentations are typically no more than 45 minutes, but are very specific and rich in content. Additional references and reading are given. The amazing location gives a perfect opportunity for delegates to socialize and build life-long network contacts.Â
Our new online courses
IT Leaders have designed on-line versions of our residential IT Leadership and IT Management programs. Now in its second iteration, and running on a new Learning Platform, the course delivers content via short (typically 30 minute) videos, supported by practical case studies based on real IT management scenarios.
Delegates who sign up for the on-line courses can join the bi-weekly webinars, providing an opportunity to share problems and solutions. They are also automatically enrolled into our IT Leaders network, a network of over 1,000 IT professionals, the majority of whom are former delegates. They also have direct access to the course director for one-on-one discussions.
